Decorative Finishing by Artefino~

Artefino Surface Design is an Arizona licensed residential and commercial contracting company in business to use the elements of design to create custom finishes. Manipulation of color, texture, line and form yields a multitude of finish options including:

  • color washes
  • faux effects
  • metallics
  • plaster
  • clay
  • murals

The Artefino contractor/artist is Jimmi Lou Stack. “Lou” works alone or with a crew depending on the nature of the job. Most Artefino contracts are with clients in North Phoenix, Scottsdale, Cave Creek and Carefree, however the artist is willing to travel for special projects.

Artefino uses high quality materials to ensure a lasting product. All Artefino finishes are environmentally friendly, and whenever possible, “green building” products are used.

Faux~

“Faux” in the world of decorative finishing usually refers to the application of transparent glazes over a base. It can be a subtle color wash or distinctive patterns such as veining and wood graining.  A wonderful sense

of depth can be achieved with the various techniques. Go ahead and spice up that powder room, marbleize your columns, or add an antiqued copper look to your ceiling!

Always a welcome challenge for Lou, murals can be contracted as either on or off site projects. More clients are opting to have a mural painted on canvas custom sized for the install area. Once installed, the client has the option to relocate the piece in the future if so desired.

Lou uses only high grade artist acrylics for mural work. Paints are chosen for their colorfastness and ability to withstand whatever abuses pertain to the substrate on which they are applied. All murals that are exposed to sunlight are given a UV resistant topcoat.

Trompe l’oeil

“Trompe l’oeil” translates from French to mean “fools the eye”. The idea is to create the look of a window or door opening to another interior or exterior space, or perhaps to mimic a niche or still life object where there is none. Painting from the perspective of the viewer, as he/she would see the image in real life, is the trick.

Plaster~

Authentic and rich, Artefino plaster specialties include:

  • classic Venetian plaster
